We women  think that if we tell men that we are not satisfied, they will behave better,  as women do when they feel criticized. Women expectations from men are imposible to fulfill and  when they cannot succeed at doing so,  they can choose to give up. "They invest only when it is worth it."  They react to success not to failure, and if we don't show appreciation, they give up.

Men want to appreciate, provide, protect, to be a hero and to be believed in.  They need to get energy back from how well they did it, so they are encouraged  to make a bigger investment.

Criticism causes men to keep their distance, feel disrespected, not trusted, kills their affection and kills the relationship.
